DataHub exists because our own magazine needed it. We run it as infrastructure, with the priorities of people who keep production systems alive: traceable data, verification before publication, and boring reliability.
From one magazine to the wire
DataHub started inside Jazz Palace, the magazine and community for the jazz scene. A small team wanted a complete, current calendar of the scene, and no small team can maintain that by hand.
So we built the wire: organizers announce through the systems they already use, every event becomes one verified record, and every change reaches every receiver. Jazz Palace has run its whole calendar on it in production since.
DataHub is that wire, opened to every scene: organizers announce for free, receivers license the coverage they publish, and everyone keeps what is theirs. Jazz Palace is the first receiver; every customer gets the same infrastructure we trust our own magazine with.
